Senior Companion Program
Senior Companions are persons 55 years of age and older who assist others through caring and companionship. A Senior Companion Volunteer does the types of things that friends do for friends. This includes sharing hobbies and interests, going for a walk, writing letters, running an errand with or without the client, and providing resource information and advocacy. They can also provide respite for persons caring for a frail or chronically ill loved one.
Clients are matched with a Volunteer by the local Coordinator and on-going visits are usually scheduled on a weekly basis.
Senior Companions do not function in the capacity of health professionals. There is no charge to the client for this service.
